Whether you want the full enchilada or something a little more basic, the parks here cater to nearly anyone’s tastes. We’ll look at the best ones in the area, so you can start your stay off on the right foot.

Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina

This premier destination includes everything from rentals to a large, full-service RV park. On the Colorado River and near Laughlin, the facilities are top-notch. Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina features 72 full hookups, coin laundry, public bathrooms and illuminated identification posts at each site. Please note that there’s a 6-person and 2-pet limit for each RV.

Callville Bay Resort & Marina

Callville Bay Resort & Marina is operated by the National Park Service. There are 52 sites total but only five full hookup sites for rental. You’ll also find running water, dump stations, public restrooms, picnic tables and grills. This is a great place to have dinner in a shady spot on a warm night in the summer. There is no Wi-Fi reception in this area, but most campers will have cell phone service. Enjoy the lake and all the colors of the desert, and don’t forget to take a few pictures.

Willow Beach Harbor

Located in the Black Canyon Region, Willow Beach Harbor is known for both its landscape and wildlife. Just 45 minutes from the famous Vegas strip, the mountains, water, and hiking are big draws here. You’ll find 28 full-service RV sites, including electric, sewer and water. Make meals that much more memorable with your own personal fire ring and picnic table, or try the on-site restaurant. 24-hour showers/laundry, fishing pier, launch ramp and Wi-Fi are also available for guests. Shop for souvenirs or necessities at the gift shop/convenience store.

This popular destination is centrally located, so you can take your vacation in any number of directions. Near Boulder Beach, this village has 115 RV sites to go around, plus Wi-Fi (in most locations), propane for purchase, 24-hour laundry and outdoor recreation areas. Play a game of Bocce ball, throw horseshoes or grill up your favorite meat on one of the four BBQs. There are four picnic areas, two meeting rooms (with indoor seating) and a convenience store and gift shop. Every site has power, water, sewer and 40 channels of cable TV (including Showtime).

Echo Bay Park

Echo Bay Park, located near the north side of Lake Mead, is perfect for fishermen and boaters. There are 55-sites in the village, all with water, sewer, showers and restrooms. There’s also 30- or 50- amp power for each site. (Please note that all sites are back-in only.) This RV park has propane available for purchase, a launch ramp, 24-hour facilities and Wi-Fi at most sites. There’s also a gas station with 89 octane, a convenience store and a gift shop. Valley of Fire is just 16 miles away.

Temple Bar Resort Marina

This RV park offers convenient parking, a convenience store, gift shop and launch ramp. Quench your thirst with a cocktail at the bar and take in the many colors of the sunset. This spot is five hours from Phoenix and 1.5 hours from Vegas. You’ll also find easy access to hundreds of coves and beaches here, a full-service marina and a café. The Arizona side of Lake Mead can be a different experience for RVers, ones that they’ll never forget. Plus, if you find you’re ready to get out of nature and hit the blackjack tables instead, you’ll be in a prime position to do so.

Tips for Picking an RV Park

Experienced RV owners know that research has everything to do with their experience. Some will only want a limited set of luxuries because they won’t be staying long enough to use them. Others find that the extras are really what makes their vacation stand out long after they’re back home. For instance, a blazing fire and a few marshmallows can transform a cold night into an inviting party. If you want to make friends while you’re in Lake Mead, adding a little dessert to the desert never hurt anyone.

At Lake Mead Mohave Adventures, we also recommend having at least a few activities planned out. Ideally, you’ll have a few back-up plans just in case things change too though. For instance, if you go somewhere primarily to hike and your spouse happens to turn their ankle, you want to make sure there’s enough to do even if one person is partially out of commission. We find that people love to spend quality time in nature, but it’s always nice to have larger cities to turn to when they’re in the mood for a little extra excitement.
